AFTER YOUR RETURN
Overview
After your return home there are a series of steps to take to maximize the Federal hiring advantages you gained when you completed your Scholarship. It’s also time to learn more about the service requirement.
Update your information at NSEPNET at least twelve (12) months before you expect to receive your degree.
Review the opportunities and responsibilities that go along with the service requirement.
You may be eligible for a Boren Scholar Federal Internship Award.
If you completed your Boren Scholarship before the 2005-6 academic year, the rules for your service are completely different than they are now. You can download the pre-2005 service requirement in pdf format for details.
You may be able to apply for another Boren Scholarship. That information is back in the Are you eligible? section of The Basics.
You'll also want to investigate the National Flagship Language Program (NFLP), another NSEP initiative. This opportunity will be available to you after you receive your bachelor's degree.
And, if you go on to graduate school, you may want to apply for a Boren Fellowship. All the information is right here, on the same website.
