State Department Travel Warnings

Boren Scholars may study in a country with a U.S. State Department Travel Warning if they are willing to sign a waiver. If the student is selected to receive an award to go to a country with a travel warning, his or her university must attest that it has considered the travel warning, supports the program in that country, and such support is consistent with its regular policies. Students planning to apply for study in one of these countries should check with their study abroad offices to see what the university policy is.

Information about active travel warnings is available on the State Department website.
