AS A BOREN FELLOW    

Overview

As a Boren Fellow:

• You must register with NSEPNET, a website that will match you with Federal job possibilities after you graduate.
• You will be required to file progress reports. You'll find descriptions, schedules and downloads in the navigation to your right.
• We may ask you to send "postcards home" to us to share with the Boren community and prospective students, like the ones at http://worldstudy.gov/dispatches.html.
• You will take a language test prior to and after your study abroad experience. If you have had no previous instruction in the language to be studied, you may not be required to take the pre-test.

The results of the language proficiency testing will be used to assess the program; they will not be used to evaluate students. Information about language testing will be provided to all fellowship recipients, and the cost of the tests will be covered by us. Students studying Spanish or French must test at an advanced level.

Internships and employment while a Fellow

You may participate in internships, but only as a pre-announced part of your study abroad proposal and through organizations not affiliated with the U.S. government or a foreign government. Your unpaid internship must be an integrated and meaningful component of your plan.

You may not accept paid work while abroad as a Boren Fellow. Boren Fellowships are intended for full-time study.
